Race archive: 2015 to 2017

I raced professionally from 2011 to 2020. Through the middle of that I wrote a report after almost every race and sent it to my sponsors. They are unedited here, typos and all, because the point is what I actually thought on the day rather than a tidied-up version of it.

They are worth reading for two reasons. If you are weighing up whether to work with me, this is the evidence behind the CV on my about page. And if you are racing IRONMAN New Zealand, the Port of Tauranga Half or 70.3 Taupo, several of these are first-hand accounts of those exact courses from the front of the field.

Each one carries a short note from me now, in 2026, about what I would tell an athlete about that race today. More reports are going up over the coming weeks.

I coach working professionals through Ironman, 70.3 and marathon builds, 1-on-1 through TrainingPeaks, from Auckland. Most of my athletes train 10 to 14 hours a week around full-time jobs. There is more on how that works on the Ironman and 70.3 coaching page, or get in touch.
